Chocolate factory in Cologne

You will hardly see so many sweets in one place. If you haven’t been to the Chocolate Museum in Cologne yet, we highly recommend visiting this paradise for the passerby!

On the territory of the museum there is a greenhouse, a glass cube with an area of about 100 square meters and a height of 10 meters, in which plants are grown for making chocolate. The greenhouse recreates the climatic conditions of the tropics: daytime temperatures up to 30 degrees Celsius, night temperatures up to 20 degrees, humidity 100%, as well as a special system that turns on a precipitation simulator every hour. The entrance to the greenhouse is a gateway so that climatic indicators are not violated.

The museum also has a miniature chocolate factory. Visitors are separated from the equipment by windows through which you can see how chocolate is made today. The process is fully automated and controlled by a computer – mechanics knead the mass, pour hot chocolate into molds, cool and even pack the finished product. There are only two people involved in the process who pack chocolate products in bags.

On the next floor of the museum there is a workshop where truffles and various chocolate figurines are made. Here, the manufacturing process is also controlled by automated technology. The daily output of products produced at this mini-enterprise reaches 400 kg. Freshly prepared confectionery can be bought on the ground floor, where there is a small shop where sweets are delivered straight from the workshops. Each visitor to the museum gets a small but tasty gift – a chocolate bar made here.
